My gorilla baby is one

Can you believe it?

It’s already been one year since my close encounter witnessing the birth of a gorilla baby. Little Ali turned one on June 1, and I’ve been meaning to make a trip to visit her before my zoo membership expired today. I finally made it!

I got to see her do everything that the self-proclaimed photographer of a gorilla baby could want to see her do.

She rode on her mom’s back.

She ate lunch.

She worked on her skills climbing and swinging on a rope. She even stepped on her mom’s head to keep her balance.

She is super cute. I thought she might be much larger than she was, but a baby gorilla seems to grow at about the same rate as a human baby. If you get a chance to go see her this summer, do it!
