Trip to St. Louis
Since our good friends moved to Baton Rouge in April, we have been trying to figure out how we could get together when they returned to St. Louis to visit their family. We compared schedules and found a few days that would work for both of us!
The really fun part about our visit was that Kelly didn’t tell her boys that we were coming. She was staying with her parents while her husband was back in Baton Rouge. So, Andrew, Matthew, Jayda and I drove to St. Louis, while we left Alayna at her cousin’s house along the way.
When we arrived, we simply walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. The boys answered the door and gave the kids big hugs. Then without asking any questions about why we were there or how long we would stay, they said, “Do you want to go in the basement and play?”
Within minutes, those five boys had picked up right where they left off a few months ago!
A few of the highlights of our trip were:
Getting Cardinals shirts and hats for the boys! It is impossible to buy Cardinals gear in the Chicago area, so it was a blast to go shopping for their shirts!
Going up in the Gateway Arch. All seven of us squeezed into the little cart that carries you to the top of the Arch.
Walking over to Busch stadium. Seeing those five boys walk up to the stadium all decked out in their Cardinals’ outfits was priceless!
Of course, I think the boys would say that having a slumber party at grandma’s house and playing foosball in the basement were also big highlights! It was just like old times!
We are so thankful for the chance to visit and reconnect with our good friends!
I haven’t moved these photos over yet! You can view them on my old photo page.
