Trip to the beach

I have been promising the kids all summer we would take a trip to the beach. However, the thought of finding parking at one of the beaches in Chicago always makes me so nervous that I have to push the thought aside! I finally invited one of my more daring friends to join us on our adventure and put out a request for suggestions on Facebook. A few people recommended 31st Street Beach, which I had not heard of before.
It turned out to be a perfect family-friendly place for our adventure. The beach is not far from I-55, so it’s very easy to drive there. It has a really large, clean parking garage right next to the beach, and it was relatively cheap to park! A nice concession stand and uncrowded beach made for a successful day! As a bonus, the beach had a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. What a great backdrop for building sand castles!
