Perfect timing

My head has been spinning the past few days. It’s amazing what can happen in your life, literally, in a matter of hours.
On Friday, we put our house on the market. The first person came to look at it at 5 p.m. that evening. By the next morning — less than 24 hours later — they had made an offer and signed a contract! It still feels impossible to believe. We actually sold our house. In one day.
The reality is, we know that God sold our house for us. There is just no way that happened without some supernatural intervention.
We’ve wanted to sell our house for a few years, but we just haven’t had the time, energy or the drive to do anything about it. We finally decided in January that it was time. And since then, we have been working non-stop on house projects.
We remodeled our bathrooms, painted nearly every room, removed tons and tons of clutter, made repairs, cleaned carpets, planted grass, spread mulch and cleaned spaces that have rarely been cleaned in the past 13 years. On Friday, our house was cleaner than it had been since the day we moved in.

Our realtor kept telling us he hoped to sell our house by the end of the weekend. When he called to tell us he had ordered the “for sale” sign, he joked that he would cancel the sign if we sold the house before it arrived.
“Whatever,” I was thinking. I was preparing myself for a long summer of keeping my house spotless.
We went out Saturday morning to scout out houses. The morning quickly took a turn toward the urgent when we got a call around 11 a.m. The couple that had looked at our house on Friday evening had returned Saturday morning. Their realtor called to tell us they were sitting in our living room writing a contract.
That afternoon, we cancelled the “for sale” sign, which still hadn’t arrived.
We are still in awe and disbelief of how everything worked out. We are all a little emotional at the idea of moving out of a house and neighborhood where we’ve lived since our oldest was seven months old. We don’t know where we are going to live after May 29. But we are OK with that “problem.”
Through the past four months of cleaning and repairing, it felt like it was taking us way too long to get things ready. On Saturday, it became clear that it was all meant to be. This other couple had been looking for a smaller house in our neighborhood.
God had it all planned out. It was perfect timing.
